About
Welcome to Tony Burton Handcrafted Knives I've been in engineering all of my working life (38 years) and for about 20 years I have been making my own knives and a few for friends.
For as long as I can remember, shooting and hunting have always been a part of my life, so I have always used knives as an essential tool. Due to my passion for making beautiful handcrafted knives and the excellent feed back I have received from people who have purchased knives from me, I decided to start a part time buisness handcrafting unique quality knives for Bushcraft, Stalking, Hunting and Bowie knives. I specialize in fixed blade knives but also make some folders. I also take commisions, so you can design your own unique knife to suit your personal needs. Every one of my knives are finished with beautiful file work as a standard feature, unless otherwise stated. I use top quality steel for my knife blades, eg: O1Carbon toolsteel, RWL34 Stainless Knife steel, ATS 34 Stainless steel, Carbon Damascus in various patterns, Damasteel Stainless Damascus in various patterns, and D2 Carbon steel.
All of my blades are heat treated for me by Mick Wardell who is one of the UKs premier Knife makers and has years of experience and uses digitally controlled ovens for very consistent results. All of my blades have a cryogenic treatment for superior edge holding.
For handles and scales, I use only the best quality exotic hardwoods in lots of different types and colours, Micarta, Mammoth Ivory, Bone, Antler and Buffalo horn. I use handmade Mosaic pins, and Loveless type handle bolts.
My sheaths are all handcrafted by myself from Veg tanned 3.5-4mm top quality Cowhide shoulder, which are double stitched for high strength using heavy waxed linen thread. The sheaths are then wet formed or friction fitted to the knife it was made for, so the fit is perfect. I then dye the sheath in either black, dark tan, or saddle tan, then polished and treated with leather grease.
